I Cleaned Out My Closet

I mean that I literally cleaned out my closet. I know that might sound like a small feat for some but its a huge deal for me and it makes me feel a light in my soul 😭😭. Its one of those things where I’d go “I’ll get to it later” until it had been about three or four ‘laters’ and now the clothes are about to touch the ceiling and I need mountain climbing gear to get to the clothes at the back of the closet (that was the plot of a really good Kids Next Door episode shout out cartoon network.) But seriously I have things organized that have never been organized before and it feels like such a literal weight off my shoulders. If you’re still reading about my cleaning my closet thank you I am going somewhere with this.

Before I got it done I would dread thinking about my closet, the rest of the apartment would be clean and I wouldn’t feel satisfied because I knew that closet was a disastrous mess. But now that its done I cannot explain how good it feels to think about that closet I will seriously go in there and just stand there to admire the work that I’ve done. And getting that feeling made me understand the feeling that comes with doing similar seemingly difficult tasks that have a large rewarding feeling following accomplishment of said task.

I don’t mean work or anything like that I mean those personal things that one does for themselves just for the sake of doing. I think that willingly and almost excitedly taking on seemingly difficult personal tasks is something that is seldom thought about as a recipe for real happiness because when we think about being happy we want to reach for fleeting comfort. But it seems like the “secret” is physically doing those things that you dread in your mind is what’s going to bring the real lasting comfort and it seems like the latter becomes a solid unbreakable foundation that can only be added upon and not taken away.

So anyway, I’m saying all that to say don’t be afraid to “clean your closet”
